לֶאֶפות – to bake

November 1, 2011

As we come into a new month, we’re talking a word that I happen to derive a great deal of pleasure from.  I spent a good long time (six and a half years) living as a bachelor far off in my own apartment, and then quite a while again before I got married.  I do enjoy cooking – I like good food, and unfortunately it shows – but I love baking.  There’s not much like what comes out of the oven when you’ve been baking… plus there’s none of that pesky ‘having to stand over the stove while you do it’ bit.

Infinitive: לאפות

Root: אפא

ּBinyan: פעל

כי היום הולדת אשתי מחר, אני אופה עוגה בשביל המסיבה היום.

ּBecause my wife’s birthday is tomorrow, I’m baking a cake for the party today.
