Vanishing Act

March 9, 2014

So… sorry about pulling a vanishing act for a bit.  Real life got hectic for a little while with a few things at work and in my personal life, so I’ve been less than diligent about updating here about what’s going on.

I’m still working on my Ladino, as I had promised that I would be.  I’ve missed about five days so far due to various reasons – means that I owe the wife a couple of nights of my cooking – but I’m making slow-and-steady progress.  I’m at the point that I can read Rashi script again, and I’m slowly building a vocabulary in the language, but my Solitreo is coming along far more slowly.

But the big distraction, honestly, has been curling.  Yes, the Winter Olympics afforded me some early mornings for me to practice while I was watching the US matches, given the time difference between Sochi and the east coast of the US, but… I’ve also had a bonspiel of my own come up.  I don’t get invited, very often, to go curl away from my own club, so I jumped at the chance to join a team, and the rink I joined managed to go 2-2 on the weekend, losing only our first match (to the eventual champion of the entire bonspiel) and then in the B-event semifinals to another rink from our own club.

(And there’s other news with my curling, but I’m leaving that unsaid until something comes of it.)

But anyway, I’m hoping to get back on track with blog updates this week now that things are settling down at the office and on the ice… 🙂

  1. Good to see you’re back 🙂

    • Well, you know I’m not really going to go anywhere long-term. 🙂 Just had to concentrate on other things, and it meant giving up this blog for a little bit to squeeze them in.
